Jay Z Beyonce Trip To Cuba
When celebrities get special treatment from our government, and the average person doesn't, it should be a wake up call. Recently Jay Z and Beyonce got permission from the Treasury department to go visit Havana, Cuba. It is against American law to go visit Cuba because of its abuses towards its citizens and because of the embargo America has on it. So if the United States is serious about people not visiting Cuba then it should apply to all people including celebrities.
Regulators Watch Out
I said it once and I will say it again thank you Massachusetts for sending Senator Elizabeth Warren to Congress. Congress really needed someone with guts to take on the regulators who are just letting banks get away with everything. The banking industry has gotten so big and complicated it was time for someone to bring them down a notch. Here is a great video showing why she is what we needed in Congress, someone who fights for the people.

Failed War on Drugs
The war on drugs has failed to bring the results it was supposed to since President Nixon launched the campaign during his term. Eugene Jarecki makes the case of why the drug war has failed us, not just the drug users but everybody and why we need to turn our attention to helping those with the problem instead of locking them up.
Protecting the Middle Class
America is the most powerful country because of its middle class. It is the teachers, firefighters, policeman, and blue collar workers that drive this economy. So the nation has to work hard to protect the middle class and lawmakers have to pass laws that cement the foundation that it was built on. By making sure unions are protected, expanding financial aid so that students can afford it and get the proper education and investing in America so that the future jobs are created here.

Progressive Rise
Progressive Democrats need to start having their voices heard in congress, the Tea Party has had more voice in this congress for the past 2 years in a half. Progressives need to do a better job of defining the party, we have to make sure that people don't say that we are for to much government. We also have to remind people how government helped them in their lives whether it be financial aid, food stamps, social security, and regulations that keep our food safe and the environment clean.

Disappointing
President Obama disappointed a lot of progressives yesterday by catering to the Republicans on social security. President Obama has to understand that the Republicans are not going to like any of his policies and are not going to meet him half way on anything. They want the President to look bad, that way they could criticize him and make his Presidency look bad. President Obama should just go progressive and stay progressive on his second term because if the Republicans don't give him an inch in negotiations then he should just distance himself a mile from them and let the American people decide who to blame for this dysfunctional government.

Democrats Need Congress Back
As the 2014 congressional candidates are starting to come out to let the people know that they are running. Democrats have to make sure to fight to get the house back from the Republicans. It would make the Presidents job a whole lot easier because the President has a lot on his plate and he can't get anything passed with this congress. The one congressional candidate we have to vote out is Speaker John Boehner. Democratic efforts in Ohio to unseat the speaker should be made a priority. Andrew Hounshell served in the army, was a steel worker, and he is a family man and is running against the Speaker. It is time for Ohio to have a new Representative that worries about the people instead of party politics.
