The Sequester Taking Affect
The sequester has begun to take affect and a lot of congressman are starting to get an earful from their constituents. Many are asking why congress can't get along, some of the people have gotten orders to start laying off some workers just because congress couldn't get along. I feel bad for this President having to work with this congress, because the lawmakers care more about their party than the American people.
Scary way to Die
Imagine your in bed and all of a sudden the ground underneath you gives out. You are swallowed up by the ground and slowly suffocate to death. That would be a very scary feeling, a poor man in Florida when through that ordeal. The ground was so unstable they had to call off the search.
Saddest Time in Human History
We are still finding information about the Holocaust, here is a sad story I read. Click Here.

GOP Losing Youth
The Republican fared better with the youth during the Reagan administration. But lately it seems like the gap is getting wider for Republicans. The Republicans need to do a better job in getting to know the youth, if you bring down college costs that would help them out or creating more job opportunities. But they cannot afford to let a whole generation pass them by.
The Republican Snub
Republican Chris Christie is very popular in his state, he has a 74 percent approval rating even though that state leans to the democratic side. That is why it surprises me that he wasn't invited to CPAC, that is the convention where they look for possible candidates for 2016. It would't be the first time the GOP passed on a good candidate.

Creationism
A religion that puts humans and prehistoric animals together is just insane. I understand if your religious, but don't try to force your religious beliefs down our throat. Science is about knowledge and testable explanations, Darwinism was the closest to how the human race came to be, we may not agree, but their is proof.

Justice Scalia The Activist
This justice should not be on the bench, I know he has worked hard to earn that position. But he is not their to give opinions, he is there to interpret the laws to the best of his knowledge and make the best judgement for the country. I think with the words he spewed today, he just created another civil rights movement.
Voting Rights in Trouble
Today the high court is hearing a case from Shelby, Alabama. The case is about southern states who had a discriminatory past being able to change voting policies in that state. Its like 1964 all over again, the Supreme court better becareful with its decision because it could have ramifications across the country.

Super Pacs
Presidential elections have been changed forever thanks to Super Pacs. People give money to this super pacs and hope that it gives the Presidential hopeful a chance to win the election. So pretty much if you have a lot of money you could affect the outcome of the race. That is why we have to have an amendment that stops this kind of election rigging.
An Agreement With the President
Republican Senator John McCain and Lindsey Graham had a meeting with President Obama to discuss border security and immigration. I am glad that both sides were on the same page when it came to this contentious issue and both seemed satisfied with what the President had to say. Now lets go ahead and get this bill done and send it to the President so we could focus on the economy again.
Finally!!!
The Senate finally cleared the way for Chuck Hagel to become the new Secretary of Defense. I don't know why they had to have a second vote, he was qualified the troops like him, and he understands what is like to be a veteran. But I'm glad that's done for, now it is time to get back to the real issues.
Massachusetts Gift to The Country
Senator Elizabeth Warren has done it again, she is not taking on the regulators but Federal Reserve chairman Ben Bernanke. This is the type of questions Senators should ask to the people that are in charge of making sure the American people do not get screwed by big banks. Click here to watch.
The Presidents Outreach
Many Republicans are criticizing President Obama for going out and speaking to the public. What I say to them is he has no other choice, when they stop acting like little kids and actually want to negotiate, then maybe you can criticize. He has sent them a neutral bill that they could work from, which includes spending cuts and tax increases.
Republican Governors not Happy
Governors whose state will be affected by the sequester went to visit Washington yesterday. They are not happy with congress or the President. But its not the Presidents fault, congress is the one who makes the laws, the President just signs them. But I am happy that this Governors went to Washington to voice their displeasure at both parties not just one.
I Applaud Marissa Mayer
Marissa Mayer the CEO of Yahoo, recently made a decision not to allow employees to work outside of the office. I agree with this move, Yahoo is struggling right now and that means people need to be there to create ideas and collaborate with their coworkers. If people are going to complain about it, I think the company should let them go.

Internet Downfall
Today Verizon and Time Warner decided to test their new "Copyright Alert System" to help the Entertainment industry fight for copyrighted material by slowing down user internet speeds if they find out your downloading pirated material. I don't condone downloading copyrighted material, but the new partnership between Internet service providers and the entertainment industry raises questions. The internet is in big trouble in this country, instead of trying to innovate and let the flow of information happen, this government is trying to regulate, and the private institutions are trying to monetize a situation they could have controlled back when the internet first came out.
The Branches of Government
The three branches of government were created to make sure that we had checks and balances. The executive branch and the legislative branch were given different powers to make sure that one of the branches didn't abuse their power. But even though the executive and the legislative branch didn't always see eye to eye in Americas past, they always made sure policy was passed. As Americans we need to hold both branches responsible and make sure they don't hold the economy hostage with stupid party politics.
Election Power
Elections have to happen in a democracy, but I think it is really dumb when the people elect the same party that had control 70 years and did nothing to improve their lives, that is what happened in Mexico when the elected the PRI again. Same goes for the Italians they might get the same Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi as their leader again, even though he has had many scandals.
Minimum Wage Hike
It is time for this nation to raise the minimum wage from 7.25 an hour to 9.00 dollars an hour. Many people say well the prices are going to go up, what I say to them is that prices are already going up. Plus we have to keep up with inflation, so the minimum wage needs to be higher.
Senator Mitch McConnell
The senate minority leader has been against President Obamas policies since the President took office. He tries to portray the administration as not reaching out to Republicans. But in my opinion he needs to reach out to the President, with good ideas on how to bring down the deficit. I applaud the progressives for going after him in Kentucky, and I hope that he learns that by being against the President just because he is a democrat is not always going to work. Here is how progressives are going after Senator McConnell.

To Big for Trial
Many banks have gotten mad at Senator Elizabeth Warren, because she took a lot of financial regulators to task. She did a great job asking questions about why they hadn't taken any financial institution to court. There needs to be a law that makes it so that banks aren't able to settle and have to go to court if not how are they going to learn not to make that same mistake.
Texas Turning Blue
Texas has been a red state for a long time, its hates big government. It has an attitude of work hard and have no government influence. But I think the 2016 Presidential election is going to change perspectives on many Republicans that think this state is going to stay red. A growing minority presence and their war on women might just be a factor in the next election.
Ted Cruz Hero Welcome in Texas
Senator Ted Cruz has started to put his influence in the Senate. He took on John Kerry becoming the new secretary of State and he questioned Chuck Hagel on becoming the Secretary of Defense. He has become a favorite in the Tea Party circles, they cheered when he came back to Texas. But as a Texan I'm disapointed that a guy like that represents me in the Senate,he shouldn't take on guys that have served in the military and have the wounds to prove it.
