Assault Weapons The second amendment right was written at a time when guns were a priority to defend the new nation from native Americans, and to make sure that other nations new what they were dealing with. The 2nd amendment right also protects us today by making sure our property isn't tampered because many Americans are armed. But we have to ask ourselves if we need assault weapons. Some of these guns could hold a lot of bullets in one magazine, which would mean if that gun were to fall in the wrong hands, many Americans are to pay the price.
